Elephants really are a lot like dogs
My first publication of 2022 is here! I can’t thank Juked Magazine enough for sharing my story “Sanctuary.”
It’s by no means an autobiographical work—although I did meet some elephants when I was traveling around Thailand in early 2017. It wasn’t something I’d been planning on, but a few women at the hostel where I was staying convinced me to do it—and I’m so glad I did.

Can you hear how I’m giggling? It was so surreal—they were just as gentle as you imagine them to be. That’s what I was thinking about when I wrote this story, although I obviously took it in an entirely different direction in terms of the characters.
